QUESTIONS · VERDICTS · HOW TO CONTACT US

ScanCheck is an anonymous product verification tool. Point your camera at a label, get a verdict in seconds. This page covers how it works and what to do if something looks off.

The three verdicts

[ WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE ]
VERIFIEDThe exact batch is on file with a published lab certificate. The strongest possible signal.
TRACKEDThe brand is known to ScanCheck and has tested with independent labs before, but we haven't seen this exact batch yet. Tap "Request Verification" to add it to our queue.
UNVERIFIEDThe brand isn't in our index. We've never seen a public certificate published for this seller. Treat with caution.

FAQ

My product was UNVERIFIED. Does that mean it's fake?

Not necessarily. UNVERIFIED only means we have no public certificate on file for that brand. Plenty of legitimate products choose not to publish independent lab results - they just can't be checked through ScanCheck. UNVERIFIED is a signal to ask more questions, not a final judgment.

My product was TRACKED but not VERIFIED. Why?

Either the batch number printed on your label hasn't reached our index yet, or our OCR misread something on the label. Tap "Request Verification" - we'll add it to the queue and you'll be re-checking the same batch next time.

Where do your certificates come from?

We aggregate public certificates from independent testing labs that publish their results online. We do not test products ourselves. We only surface what is already publicly available.

What if I think a verdict is wrong?

Email us at [email protected] with the brand, batch, and verdict you received. We'll investigate.

How do I get the free scans back?

On the web, scans are uncapped. On iOS, the 3 free lifetime scans are a one-time allowance per install. If you reinstall, the counter resets - but the better path is to take a 3-day free trial of the annual plan, which gives you unlimited scans for those 3 days. Cancel before the trial ends and you keep the unlimited window with no charge.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the Settings app on iOS > tap your Apple ID at the top > Subscriptions > ScanCheck > Cancel. Or, from the App Store app: tap your profile picture > Subscriptions.

Why does the camera ask for permission?

Because we need to see the product label to read it. We never record or store the image - it lives in memory only for the duration of the scan and is discarded after we return the verdict.

Is my scan private?

Yes. See our privacy policy for the full breakdown. No account, no identification, no persistent record of what you scan.

What's coming next?

UPC barcode lookup, real-time QR overlay (no capture tap), anonymous scan history, and Android. The full live roadmap is on the home page idle screen, populated from our config.json so it's always current.
